Senior Adult Ministry
Seniors adults are a vital and exciting
part of the church family!
The mission of
Senior Adult Ministries is to encourage adults 50 and over to actively
participate in prayer, compassionate ministry, evangelistic outreach and
exciting fellowship events. Senior adults are encouraged to become involved in
any of the following ministries offered specifically for senior adults:
Prayer Ministry
A ministry
providing an effective foundation of prayer for the church.
Senior adults sponsor the
intercessory prayer meeting before the Sunday night service. The prayer
meeting begins at 5:15 in the Prayer Room and everyone is welcome to
participate.
Senior adults actively
participate in special emphasis prayer meetings as directed by the pastor
and home prayer intercession.
In-Touch Ministry
A ministry
keeping “ in-touch” with senior adults and meeting needs with love.
Telephone
Ministry – Timely telephone calls are made to individuals who are ill or
having other needs. Calls to the older senior adults are made frequently to
keep in touch.
Shut-in
Ministry – Weekly ministry visits are made to shut-in individuals at
homes or nursing homes for a time of prayer, bible devotion & spiritual
encouragement.
Care
Ministry to the Caregivers – A
ministry of encouragement to long-term caregivers.
Nursing
Home Ministry - Nursing Home ministry teams conduct ministry services
in nursing homes.
Card
Ministry – Cards are sent to senior adults for illness, bereavement
and other occasions.
Helps
Ministry – A ministry of practical helps to seniors in need including
handyman projects, transportation assistance and other resource helps.
Evangelism Ministry
A ministry
effectively reaching out to the unchurched/lost senior adults.
Assistance
is given to the Care Ministry in welcoming newcomers.
Evangelism
canvasses are conducted to senior adult residences/apartments.
Special
outreaches are made to friends and neighbors of senior adults.
Fellowship Ministry
A ministry
providing encouraging and edifying fellowship for adults 50 and above.
Senior
adults are encouraged to faithfully attend a Sunday School class of their
choice.
A
monthly Hymn Sing Fellowship is held every third Thursday of the month for
senior adults. This fellowship is a very special time of singing and
inspiration followed by a wonderful luncheon. Everyone is invited to
attend!
Fellowships
are held for two major age groups:
Premier Adult Fellowships – For
adults in their 50s & 60s who are in the “Premier” time of life.
Primetime Adult Fellowships
– For adults in their 70s and above who are in the “Primetime” of life.
All senior adults are welcome to attend
any fellowship!
Trips
to local and regional areas of interest are planned periodically for
senior adults.
Special Needs Ministry
A ministry of
compassion to individuals with disabilities and special needs.
Assistance
is given to developing Sunday School classes and other ministry efforts specifically
for individuals with disabilities and special needs.
Caregiver
Support – A ministry providing support and encouragement for caregivers of
individuals with disabilities or long-term needs.
Cancer
Care Coordination – A ministry serving to provide both spiritual
encouragement and practical helps to individuals with cancer. This
ministry serves as a liaison to the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Care
Program.
