    January thoughts
(Tuesday, 29 January 2008) Written by Daniel Smith
I thought I'd post some random thoughts I've had about life, about Central, about what God is doing.

First, God is good! We've seen births, miracles, deliverances, deaths, disappointments. And still, in all of it, God is good! In all things God works for good for His children-sometimes it just takes time to see the good (and sometimes, the good never becomes apparent on this side of Glory, but I've seen enough times when it DID turn out to good that I can trust God on the times I have yet to see the good come about.).

Second, our missions convention was spectacular. I sure hope you were able to be a part of it and connect with our wonderful missionaries. We heard inspiring stories of what God is doing around the globe, and it is so exciting to know that in these end-times, God is reaping a harvest of souls! Surely, as never before, the fields are white unto harvest-Let Central be a harvesting church!

And finally, on a personal note, I have to remind myself daily to balance all the "stuff" that comes with life. I have to make sure I am disciplined as to my flesh so that I can be the servant and friend to God that He desires, so that I can be the husband and father to my family that they deserve, that I can minister as God enables me to the "world" I am a part of here in Louisiana, so that I can take time for myself to maintain mental, spiritual and physical health. It's hard to keep it all up in the air. Like those plate spinners at the circus that have umpteen plates spinning on sticks, they have to run from plate to plate to keep them spinning, or they will fall and crash. Sometimes life feels like that, at least for me. But they that "wait" (rest, linger, encamp about) on the Lord, will renew their strength. So I have to learn to evaluate the way I spend my days and make sure I'm doing it right.

Well, there you have it. Some random ramblings from me. Hopefully they have some value to you! May God speak His tender whispers of love and guidance to you today, and may you listen carefully so that you can hear the whisper!
